Despite a down economy and people complaining about not being able to find work or pay their bills, as least 25 teens and young adults began lining up at Bogalusa's Hibbetts Sports as early as 7 a.m. to purchase the newest release of Air Jordan shoes.

The shoes, officially dubbed "Air Jordan V Retro," were listed at $150 and $160 per pair on sneakernews.com.

By the time the store opened at 9 a.m., an off-duty policeman stood near the front door as the crowd continued to grow.

"The only difference (in the shoe) is it's in a different color," said one man, standing outside Dirt Cheap.

"The funny thing," another man, in line with his wife and young child, "is how much they're going to pay for a pair of shoes made by a company that makes shoes sold at Wal-Mart."
