6 Washington Parish athletes earn academic kudos
Six Washington Parish student-athletes, including three from Mount Hermon, two from Bogalusa and one from Pine have been named to the Louisiana High School Athletic Association Academic All-State team for spring sports.
Casey Hoffman, Jennifer Taylor and Chelsey Sharp, all of Mount Hermon, are joined by Chelsea Adams and Samantha LaCour of Bogalusa and Callie Graves of Pine on the list that recognizes academic excellence.
To qualify, a senior athlete must have maintained a four-year, cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or better and must register to be considered for inclusion.
Taylor, selected to the Class B Academic All-State team in softball, had a 3.8605 GPA. Sharp, also named to the Academic squad in softball, had a GPA of 3.6279 grade point average while Hoffman, named to the squad in both baseball and track, had a GPA of 3.5952.
Adams and LaCour were both named to the softball Class 3A Academic All-State team. Adams compiled a 3.9619 GPA while LaCour maintained a 3.7345 GPA.
Graves, named to the Class 2A softball Academic All-State, compiled a 3.5909 GPA.
